We would like to congratulate our graduate ATANGANA Joseph Désiré. Joseph has published his article on the Durreesamin Journal. You can read an Abstract of his article below:

Abstract:

Before the western educational practices were implemented, there was an educational profile of the black African people and their system of social organization. Admission into adult life or traditional education reaches its highest point by initiatory rites in many countries Africa of the South of the Sahara. The So'o rite in the tradition of the Beti people of Cameroon marks the transition from adolescence to adulthood and has the task of making the adolescent (boy) capable of carrying the weight, of bearing the difficulties and of penetrating the secrets of the new life. The hardships inherent in its ritual practices are aimed at developing the subject's physical endurance, combating all kinds of violence in order to preserve and guarantee the unity and survival of the group. The most important result of the initiation is that the young boy who comes out of it is a complete man, he has a clear and coherent idea of his life and of his society, and he knows what the others expect of him and what he can expect from them.
