Tumwebaze Tusiime Margaret who is enrolled in a Doctorate program in Health Education and Management, has had her work published in the Journal of Health Policy and Development which is published by the Department of Health Sciences of Uganda Martyrs University three times a year.
Her work titled, “Youth Needs and Services in Kabarole District, Uganda: A situation Analysis” is described as a stage in life characterized by numerous challenges; issues to explore, understanding and coming to terms for the youth. She identifies their needs as the following:
· Basic Needs
· Parental Care and Guidance
· Leisure
· Stable Income/Employment
· Respect/Recognition
· Legal and Social Protection
· Happy Marriage
· Medical Care and Counselling
· Time and Academic Excellence
· Transport
· Success
· Decision Making
· Sensitisation on Developmental Issues
One youth said: “We need good and attractive clothing so that we can fit in society. Unfortunately we cannot afford them” [Male youth, Fort Portal town]
