Here is Roshan's message from Nepal:
"Thank you for your kind email and concern. This is indeed test of time which one faces once in a life time. The country has been hit badly, however Kathmandu is the focal point so it will recover much faster, but remote areas will take a lot of time to normalize due to difficulty to reach such places.
Most importantly, in recent past lot of high quality work were done, in Kathmandu, and everything was looking positive, in fact we were all feeling that Kathamndu is again back to the beautiful 90's where kathmandu was center of attraction in the region, and then this disaster struck us. But we have to live with it and grow within this limitation.
During this time we (Nepaleses) are showing tremendous courage, every body is doing their part in this moment of crisis, and we have yet again proven that we are not selfish, we all are taking care of each other.
The world has come to support Nepal, and it shows that Nepal is loved by the world, may be it is also because Nepal has given a lot to the world through the "Brave Gurkhas" and this is the time for the world to return back to Nepal, and the lovers of Himalayas have also contributed from all over the world.
From our side we are doing our part by mobilizing our resources. Unfortunately one of our student's parents are still missing and some of our known people are effected by the disaster.
It would be really nice if we all at AIU can contribute in this cause. Most importantly Nepal currently needs - Medicines, Tents and Food. Please act on this immediately and try to support as quickly as you can. I am currently devoting all my time in the rescue work and it is my duty to coordinate if AIU wants to support Nepal.
Once again many thanks and I look forward to your immediate response.
I am attaching herewith some photos for your reference. "
Thanks,
Roshan. |
