Introduction to Wireline Technology:
Wireline refers to a set of oilfield technologies that use an electrically conductive or slick cable to lower tools into a wellbore for data acquisition, intervention, and completion support. It is one of the most widely used methods for evaluating reservoir conditions, diagnosing well performance, and executing downhole tasks without requiring major workover operations.
Electric-line (E‑line) enables real‑time transmission of measurements such as formation evaluation logs, casing integrity data, and reservoir parameters. Slickline, on the other hand, is primarily used for mechanical services like setting and pulling plugs, shifting sleeves, and fishing operations.
Overall, wireline plays a critical role in safe, efficient, and cost‑effective well construction, monitoring, and maintenance throughout the life of the well.
