This study examines how music has historically shaped adult learning in Jamaica, serving as a tool for social, political, and cultural expression. It underscores the importance of both formal and informal educational settings, where music acts as an indigenous method of transmission and reflection of national identity. The curriculum incorporates music to foster inclusive, outcome-based learning aligned with national standards. Influenced by thinkers such as Illich and Freire, the approach values participation, culture, and community engagement. Music’s emotional and expressive qualities motivate learners and bridge gaps between diverse social groups, making education more relevant and accessible.
