This research explores the effects of climate change on food security for smallholder farmers participating in Zambia’s Food Security Pack programme in Chilanga District. It assesses farmers’ awareness, recognition of climate signs, and perceived causes of climate change, alongside tangible impacts on maize yields during the 2023/24 and 2024/25 farming seasons. The study identifies key challenges such as drought, floods, and pests, which threaten crop productivity and household food sufficiency. It also examines farmers’ coping strategies and recommends integrated resilience models that combine technological, policy, and practice approaches to mitigate climate risks. The findings aim to inform government policies and development programs geared toward sustainable agriculture, improving smallholder farmers’ resilience and ensuring long-term food security in the region.
