Honoring a Doctor of Philosophy in Development Economics Dedicated to Sustainable Development and Social Impact
We proudly recognize the accomplishments of Dr. Sebastiano Marco Lunardon, a distinguished graduate of the Doctor of Philosophy in Development Economics program whose academic excellence, humanitarian commitment, and passion for economic development exemplify the values of lifelong learning and global citizenship.
This unique journey of Dr. Lunardon through AIU is consistent with the philosophy of personalization of education that prevails in this esteemed university. In fact, it was because of the innovative approach of AIU that allowed him the liberty to create an academic path as per his personal preferences and long-term career goals.
“AIU provided me with the opportunity to study what truly interested me and to build a program aligned with my goals,” said Dr. Lunardon. “This freedom allowed me to maximize my learning experience and prepare myself to contribute positively to society.”
However, despite being involved in most of his activities in Italy, the scope of Lunardon’s achievements is not limited to the boundaries of this country. His participation in volunteer work abroad helping underprivileged people who become victims of violence and exploitation, especially street children, have played an important role in shaping his professional agenda. This experience motivated him to undertake postgraduate education and study the field of development economics.
As a diligent scholar, Lunardon has concentrated his research activity on the analysis of economic policy decisions made in the past. He examines the connection between the economic growth of a country, its financial stability, and the banking system as factors contributing to economic development. In particular, his research is aimed at exploring the economic development of Italy and its place in the structure of the European Union.
In terms of contemporary problems in Italy, one that Dr. Lunardon considers as particularly pressing is demographic decline. Indeed, in his analysis, he observes that the problems associated with an aging population, low birth rates, and continuing emigration reflect economic problems that are structural in nature and require strategic solutions. The focus of Dr. Lunardon’s research in this respect is on finding the appropriate balance between public expenditure priorities for the present and future.
When it comes to the motivations that drive Dr. Lunardon, they have a lot to do with his family, personal relationships, and willingness to assist other people. Dr. Lunardon believes that by providing other people with opportunities, including access to education and economic possibilities, it is possible to make people’s lives better.
“Helping others access opportunities similar to those I have received is one of my greatest aspirations,” Dr. Lunardon shared. “Education and economic empowerment can create pathways toward a better future for individuals and societies alike.”
Looking back at his time at AIU, Dr. Lunardon attributes much of his personal and professional success to the supportive and flexible nature of AIU’s learning environment. According to Dr. Lunardon, educational institutions which foster creative thinking and autonomous learning allow students to realize their potential while equipping them to meet the challenges posed by the modern world.
Atlantic International University congratulates Dr. Sebastiano Marco Lunardon for his numerous accomplishments in life. We commend his tireless efforts aimed at expanding knowledge about economics as well as his commitment to fostering community development through his services to humanity worldwide.
