The Associate in Optoelectronic Systems prepares students to design, research and develop light technologies or light information technology in devices. Those devices include different types of lasers, fibers, LEDs, information displays, image pick up devices, optical communication systems, optical storage, photo diodes, solar cells, as well as military devices, telecommunications, space telescopes and medical equipment. The field has tremendous growth due to the high demand of devices needed worldwide. The manufacturing, design, supervision of optical devices is growing. There is a continued search to come up with new solutions to improve devices and make technological advances in this field by changing the amplitude, phase and frequency of light with lower energy, and improve the speed, while reducing the cost of these devices.
